Floating with arms outstretched
we catch the breath of night
and begin to circle
the summer constellations,
grinding coarse starlight
into the finest meal.

Water's Edge Press has announced the forthcoming publication of Human Geographies, one of the inaugural titles within in its new Calliope Chapbook Series for poetry.
Named for the Greek muse of epic poetry, the Calliope Chapbook Series is being produced in partnership between Lakeland University and Water's Edge Press. Led by Professor Madeleine Wattenberg of Lakeland University and Dawn Hogue, Editor at Water's Edge Press, the collaboration is involving Lakeland University students in the publication and marketing process for the three Calliope titles that will be released this spring. Other titles in the collection include Freesia McKee's City of Honesty, and Lynn Aprill's Aging in Place.
In Human Geographies, Meg turns her focus toward an exploration of place and space as conduits of culture, meaning, and interpersonal relationships. Featuring poems written during journeys taken across four continents, the chapbook celebrates how body/memory can give rise to a sense of intimacy everywhere.
This volume, started in conjunction with her travels nearly three decades ago, is rooted in a multimedia project involving photography and poetry.
The launch for the series is scheduled for April 26, 2025. More information on the event and the books in the series will be forthcoming from Water's Edge in the coming weeks.
