Of the Earth and Other Desires Wins the John Rezmerski Poetry Award

Of the Earth and Other Desires: A Poet's Phenology has won the annual John Rezmerski Memorial Manuscript Competition. Sponsored by the League of Minnesota Poets, this award honors the life and legacy of writer John Calvin Rezmerski, one of Minnesota's most beloved storytellers and poets. The competition was judged by poet Shirley Blackwell, who commented that the manuscript was a "[b]rilliant fusion of head, heart, and tongue. Intellectual discovery clothed in linguistic art."

Echoing Meg's work with Poetry in the Parks, Of the Earth and Other Desires celebrates place through the forms of desire manifesting in the lives within them. Most of the poems were developed in conjunction with her phenological field study walks.

The volume will be published by the League of Minnesota Poets in Spring 2024.
