Writing the Wolf is proud to announce the launch of a new place-based writing initiative and anthology dedicated to honoring the landscapes, stories, and voices of the Wolf River region. This project invites residents, writers, students, Tribal community members, and anyone with a connection to the watershed to share their lived experiences through diverse forms of creative nonfiction.

Rooted in a deep respect for land and community, Writing the Wolf seeks to gather writing that reflects the ecological, cultural, and historical richness of the area. The anthology will highlight diverse perspectives—from intimate reflections of belonging and memory to broader conversations about stewardship, ecology, and the changing relationship between people and place.

The project welcomes emerging and established writers alike. No prior publication experience is required. Submissions may explore themes such as the Wolf River’s natural beauty, wildlife encounters, seasonal rhythms, local histories, personal journeys, and the meaning of home in relation to land and water.

In addition to the anthology, the project hopes to offer opportunities for workshops, community writing sessions, and local events designed to support storytellers at every level. Full guidelines and a community contact form is available on the project website.

Writing the Wolf is committed to fostering a creative space where the stories of the Wolf River region can be shared, celebrated, and preserved for future generations. For more information, or to receive updates, please visit the project site or reach out through the contact page.
